My son made me laugh this morning. He is only four years old and he has said that he wanted a strawberry cake at Christmas. I was telling him that I could make a sponge cake with strawberry jam, cream and strawberries on top. He then said that it had to have birthday candles on the top. I had to explain that we do not have candles on cakes at Christmas and he asked me why. This really made me thing, because I like to be honest with my children and answer all of their questions as well as I can but I could not think of a suitable answer. I tried to explain that we have as many candles as our age on our birthday and blow them out but then he said that n my birthday I just had one candle and lots of birthday cake toppers! They do not miss a trick do they!! I think that we may end up having candles on our Christmas strawberry cake because I cannot think of a hood reason why not. It will certainly make a change and if it makes it a memorable Christmas then I see no harm in it at all.
